The listing price reflects a 50% down payment to reserve the instrument and place it in our restoration queue. The current estimated completion date is estimated around 4-6 months unless otherwise noted. Please contact us directly for expedited rates if you need the instrument in a faster timeframe. The remaining 50% balance is due before the instrument leaves the workshop.
Our Wurlitzer restoration process is among the most meticulous in the world, with over 30 hours of expert craftsmanship devoted to every instrument. Throughout our restoration process we prioritize using period-correct vintage components whenever possible, or select the highest quality reproduction parts when necessary. Each restoration is carefully tailored to bring out the very best in the Wurlitzer's action, touch, and iconic tone while remaining true to its original character, earning our highest seal of approval.
This is an early 200-era piano (1968-1970), known for having more grit and bark than later models. These pianos are lighter in weight than the 140B models and were the first to feature the iconic chrome legs and molded plastic tops used for around 15 years of production. Lovers of Donny Hathaway's live recordings will be very pleased with the midrange attack of pianos from this era.
A note on noise: the 200 is often considered noisier than the 200A, but nearly all of the 200A's noise-reduction improvements can be incorporated during restoration. Combined with the installation of a Warneck Research amplifier and additional improvements to grounding, shielding, and lead dress, our restorations achieve a noise floor ready for professional recording and performance.
The 206 is Wurlitzer's first dedicated student console — a wood cabinet with a built-in 4x8-inch speaker system, built around the same amplifier as the 200. Vibrato is disabled in favor of a self/ensemble switch for classroom use.
