This is a pre-order of a restoration instrument. After you purchase, our team will contact you with an estimated restoration timeline and, if any additional work beyond our standard process is needed, a cost estimate before we proceed.
The listing price reflects a 50% down payment to reserve the instrument and place it in our restoration queue. The current estimated completion date is estimated around 4-6 months unless otherwise noted. Please contact us directly for expedited rates if you need the instrument in a faster timeframe. The remaining 50% balance is due before the instrument leaves the workshop.
Every Hohner Cembalet we restore for sale goes through the same meticulous process we're known for, with dozens of hours devoted to bringing each instrument to exceptional playing condition. Designed by Ernst Zacharias and patented in 1957, the Cembalet was Hohner's first piano-like electric keyboard — built around ground stainless steel reeds read by a variable-capacitance pickup, the same core technology Zacharias would later refine into the Pianet. We prioritize period-correct vintage components whenever possible, and turn to the best available reproduction parts when originals are no longer viable, always working to preserve the instrument's original character.
The Cembalet II expands on the Cembalet I with a vibrato control, a valve amplifier, built-in speakers, and an integrated volume pedal.
