We were fortunate to host our northern neighbor Mathieu David Gagnon for an impromptu performance at our workshop. The brainchild behind Flore Laurentienne, Mathieu is no stranger to vintage keyboard instruments with a touring rig that consists of a Wurlitzer 200a, Mini Moog, and Farfisa Transichord (just to name a few).
While he typically performs with a string quartet and percussionist, Mathieu can create lush sounds with just two instruments! Here he is on our reissue Moog Model D and Wurli 106p played through an Echoplex. For more Flore, check out @florelaurentienne

Keegan brings this 70s Hammond Piper console organ to life with his rendition of the @Gorillaz 2001 classic “Clint Eastwood”.

Organs like this were marketed for home use through much of the 60’s, 70’s, and beyond. Often equipped with Rhythm Machines, auto bass accompaniment, on-board rotary speakers, and features unmentioned, these are often wildly undervalued instruments.

Lowrey, Hammond, Baldwin, Gulbranson, and many more are among the companies who produced instruments like these. Although its rare that the value of one of the instruments merits restoration on a value-only basis, they are versatile instruments and always worth saving to make great music with.

Housed in a custom ash case with cream painted top, this 1974 Fender Rhodes Stage 73 is now singing sweetly in the LA hills.

The Farfisa Transicord 🪗⚡️
Keegan demonstrates the lush tones the Transicord is capable of!

From the same line as their mid 60s compact combo organ series, the Transicord shares familiar cosmetics with the combos but was marketed to the discerning accordionist that really wanted to cut through the mix. Functionally, it operates and sounds very much like a combo compact and shares the same F/AR power supply used for the mighty Duo. The bellows control dynamics, unless the multi tone booster circuitry is engaged in which case it acts as more of an EQ swell.
