Lick of the week - “Vehicle” by the Ides of March.
We found our recent Chevelle inspired Wurlitzer 200 to be the perfect “vehicle” for this song 😉
Hailing from Berwyn Illinois (just outside of Chicago), the Ides of March were billed alongside the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin after the release of this 1970 chart topper.

Also Pheaturing @matt.blocher on our Rhodes MK8 and a korg 55b rhythm machine.

When Page called for a custom Clavinet, we were Philled with excitement! We tasked ourselves to Phix him up with the best of the best.

Phollowing a Phull mechanical and electronic restoration of the Clavinet, we phoned @joshuaivantruman to build this beautiful black walnut case to house the instrument, and violá! Clavinet euPhoria!

Here we demonstrate the unique ability of our custom Helpinstill piano to split its own keyboard into three separate outputs; Bass, Middle, and Treble. Of course, the two-way split became somewhat standard in the digital era, but can you name any other acoustic instrument that can split its register like this?

The treble is run through a vintage @bossinfoglobal DM-3 for maximum @lee_scratch_perry vibes. The midrange is run through a vintage Boss Ph-1 phaser. We ran the bass through a vintage @ehx mini Q tron for a little @bootsy_collins nod.

Whammy Clavinets often get compared to lead guitars, and so we decided to take Nels Cline’s sensitive vibrato style licks and try them out on the Whammy Clavinet. Accompanied by @matt.blocher on a freshly restored Wurlitzer 214, we love the way this little homage came out. 🇩🇪🎙️
