We’re thrilled to welcome Wil Blades to the shop for a special Hammond Organ Workshop on the 22nd of this month.
If you aren’t already hip; Wil Blades has been on the forefront of Hammond players for quite some time. He is a protégé of Dr. Lonnie Smith and one of the most important musicians both carrying on the traditions of Hammond Organ playing, and takes the instrument to new territories.
You may have heard him this past winter with Dawes, or you’ve seen his trio record with Charlie Hunter and George Slubbick. Idris Muhammed has played on his albums. Last time he was in Chicago with the Amendola Vs. Blades project; Nels Cline and Cyro Baptista filled out the band. He plays with Eric Krasno, Adam Deitch, Herlin Riley, Jeff Parker, Donald Harrison Jr., Otis McDonald, and many others. He’s on record with Johnson Scofield, and has a duo album with Billy Martin. These credits hardly scratch the surface of his career. We’re thrilled to have him at the shop, and hope you’ll join to get some Hammond knowledge from the man himself.
This is sure to be a super informative, funky, and fun, afternoon. We hope you’re join us!
